Top Honours at Asia-Pacific Conference on Giftedness

In exciting news, our Director participated in the 2012 Asia-Pacific Conference on Giftedness! The conference theme this year was: Nurturing Talent, Growing Potential: Capitalizing on human potential at the early stages and nurturing talent through education.

Speaking from her extensive experience with BRAINways, as well as her PhD research, Mirella shared her knowledge of E-Learning, and looked at the relationship between creativity and motivation for gifted students.

Upon her return, Mirella was tired, but very happy.

The conference was jam-packed with over 200 fantastic events comprising paper presentations, symposiums, keynote presentations and workshops, with participation of notable academics in the field of Gifted Education from the region.

Mirella’s presentations (a paper session on Creativy & Motivation: A Complex Relationship, and a symposium on E-Learning for Gifted Students) were so popular the rooms were bursting with participants. People lined up at the door to find a seat! In fact, at the request of the audience, Mirella gave a repeat presentation on Creativity & Motivation, and again it was standing room only!

After such a great response to her work, on the final day, Mirella was awarded the Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Academic Excellence. This is a fantastic honour, and one that comes as no surprise if you know of Mirella’s dedication to the field.

Of course, our ever-humble Director said, “I mostly enjoyed meeting people, education professionals from all around the world sharing their knowledge and passion for gifted education. It was great!”

Well done, Mirella! We’re thrilled to have you back delivering more programs with your trademark energy and enthusiasm!
